The slight sketch at the top shows Old London Bridge with the tower of Southwark Cathedral to the west beyond shipping on the River Thames. Below to the left is a separate study of sailing boats. More than half the drawings in this sketchbook show the river in the vicinity of the bridge, and are likely to date from 1824; see the Introduction.
