A view looking north-west from the shore of the River Conwy, showing the walls of the town to the left and Penmaenbach beyond. The large finished watercolour of Conwy now in the Getty Museum, San Francisco,1 seems to have been partially based on this drawing, though that on the next page, folio 83 recto (D01306; Turner Bequest XXXVIII 52) was also used. The oil painting2 also makes use of this drawing. Other drawings of Conwy in this book are on the rectos of folios 80, 81, 84, 85 and 86 (D01303, D01304, D01336, D01307, D01308; Turner Bequest XXXVIII 50, 50a, 82, 53, 54).
