Inverted relative to the sketchbook’s foliation, the view is taken from near the hamlet of Trapp, on the Afon Cennen at the junction of two roads over the western extremity of the Black Mountains, leading to Llandeilo; see folios 53 verso–52 recto (D01548–D01549; Turner Bequest XL 51a–52). The present subject is continued on folio 42 recto opposite (D01530; Turner Bequest XL 40).
