Rendered in swift and fluid line, here Turner pictures the Meuse near Liège, surrounded by countryside. A house, half concealed by tall trees, can be seen at centre. The view is shown again at a distance on folio 23 verso (Tate D19597; Turner Bequest CCXVI 23 a).
