Here Turner has produced a swift, summary sketch of the Meuse near Liège; the view is similar to D19593, D19597; Turner Bequest CCXVI 21a, 23a. Turner has made note of ‘Blue’ light in the sky and of local ‘Boys playing with a Lamb’ at the riverbank in the foreground.
