The principal drawing is of a riverboat, typical of the sort which plied the Meuse for fish. The boat is installed with a system of mechanical pulleys attached to what appears to be a lift net designed to haul fish from the waters. Parallel to the gutter of the book is a small view of the Meuse taken by Turner as his boat navigated the river mid-stream.
