Turner has used this leaf to dash off a few jottings of boats as well as a small study of clouds. Similar sketches are found on the folio opposite (Tate D19884, D19886; Turner Bequest CCXVI 166a, 167a). The location may be the Flemish cities of Bruges or Ghent.
