With slight and summary line, here Turner sketches a view of a small harbour. Directly beyond the boats moored at centre the rough profile of a tower and possibly a dome come into view. This profile resembles that of the Church of Saint-Jacques at Dieppe. For other drawings of Dieppe see Tate D19959, D19966, D19968–D19996, D19998–D20014, D20031–D20033; Turner Bequest CCXVI 205, 209a, 211–227, 228–236, 244–245a.
At the uppermost register is a narrow wide-angled view of a harbour and a bridge at far right, possibly also Dieppe Harbour with its bridge near the Quai Henri IV. At rear is a drawing of houses at a harbour which continues onto the opposite folio (Tate D20052; Turner Bequest CCXVI 255).
