With the sketchbook turned vertically, Turner worked a cursory drawing of buildings, perhaps set amidst hilly terrain, at the top of this page. Landscapes of this kind abound in the Channel Islands and along the Normandy banks of the Seine, both the subject of extensive study in this sketchbook.
