J.M.W. Turner: Sketchbooks, Drawings and Watercolours

With the sketchbook turned horizontally, Turner filled this page with a view of wooded scene with a small architectural structure on the left-hand side of the page. The drawing is too cursory to identify a definitive location for this study although this part of the volume is much taken up with views of the gardens at the Palace of Versailles, located some twelve miles south-west of central Paris. A list of these drawings is provided in the sketchbook Introduction for comparison.
