With the sketchbook turned horizontally, Turner filled much of this page with small cursory sketches of a bridge and substantial buildings lining a river or canal. Turner made several drawings of the Parisian riverside in the present volume providing a possible location for these structures. For comparisons, see the list of Parisian riverside studies in the sketchbook Introduction. The rear end of a pack animal has been drawn over these landscape views on the left-hand side of the page.
