With the sketchbook turned horizontally, Turner worked a cursory drawing of an arched bridge onto the left-hand side of this page. Although the exact location of this structure is indeterminate, this volume includes multiple studies of the bridges of Paris, a list of which is included in the sketchbook Introduction for comparison. Running down the right-hand edge of the page are small studies of buildings and the arches of a bridge, identified by a note as the settlement of Charenton-le-Pont, located some four miles south-east of central Paris. Drawings of this neighbourhood recur on several pages in this volume, a list of which is included in the sketchbook Introduction.
