With the sketchbook turned horizontally, Turner filled the much of this page with two landscape views of the small town of Corbeil-Essonnes, located some twenty miles south of central Paris. In the top drawing the old stone bridge which once crossed the river at this point can be seen along with the tower of Saint-Spire. Turner made several sketches at this location in this volume, a list of which is included in the sketchbook Introduction.
