The drawing was made with the page turned horizontally. The viewpoint here is closer than that on folio 8 recto (D05081). For Helmsley Castle see under folio 3 recto (D05076).
The Turner scholar C.F. Bell suggested that the rectos of folios 7–12 (D05080–D05084, D05086) have views of Barnard Castle, County Durham.1 An alternative identification for the sequence is Pickering, on the road between Helmsley and Scarborough.
