Drawn with the pages turned horizontally, the subject is continued on folio 167 recto opposite (D03236; Turner Bequest LVI 165). Another view of the abbey is on folios 167 verso–168 recto (D03237–D03238; Turner Bequest LVI 165a–166); like this one, it shows the ruins from across the Clyde, and there is no evidence that Turner made the detour required to visit them.
