The woman to the left of this group is somewhat more fully realised than the other two; the right–hand figure is apparently male, perhaps a boy. This is one of a series of figure studies between folios 1 recto and 16 recto (D03440–D03444, D03446–D03456); see the sketchbook’s Introduction.
