Accepted by the nation as part of the Turner Bequest 1856
Drawn with the page turned horizontally, this large house has not yet been identified. It is presumably in North Wales, but as Turner made a point of drawing several houses in Lancashire, often the seats of his patrons, it is possible that this rapid but careful little study was made there; compare the study of Gawthorpe Hall on folios 58 verso–59 recto (D02086–D02087). The numbers inscribed above the drawing indicate the numbers of lights in each window.
Verso:
Blank; washed with a pale buff ground. There is grey wash offset from folio 30 recto opposite (D02040).
