As Finberg suggests,1 the last word of Turner’s inscription may indicate Nant Ffrancon. There is no direct road between Llanberis and the Pass of Nant Ffrancon, but it is possible that Turner walked over the flank of Elidir Fawr from one pass to the other; he certainly seems to have climbed at least part of the way up that mountain, as is suggested by the drawings on folios 19 verso, 20 recto and 20 verso (D02023–D02025).
