Here Turner has produced a prospect of Brighton, taken from the beach and looking back towards the Front and the city beyond. The oriental onion-domes and minarets of Brighton Pavilion can be seen at left. This sketch is associated with Turner’s design Brighthelmstone, Sussex, engraved for the Southern Coast print series in 1825 (Tate impression T04421).
