The drawing is inverted relative to the sketchbook’s foliation. It shows Windsor Castle to the south-east beyond trees beside the River Thames in the vicinity of Eton College. The verso and folio 7 recto (D20605, D20606) record similar views, as does folio 9 verso (D20608); for others in the area and further discussion see under folio 2 recto (D20598).
At the top left is a separate detail of willow tree and a bridge, apparently that shown beneath in the main view, below which there seems to be the back view of a figure in the foreground.
