This is one of many such coastal and nautical studies in this sketchbook, presumably relating to the regatta events at Cowes from late July 1827 onwards, as discussed in the Introduction. It appears less diagrammatic and more pictorial than most, with a sense of an overall composition and dynamism as the yachts approach.
