The drawing was made with the page turned vertically. Two yachts are shown manoeuvring in different directions at some speed, possibly turning during a race, with a further vessel shown in the distance on the right. This is one of many such coastal and nautical studies in this sketchbook, presumably relating to the regatta events at Cowes from late July 1827 onwards, as discussed in the Introduction.
