This very slight sketch apparently shows two women in bonnets on the left, one possibly with a raised parasol, and two indeterminate figures towards the right, beyond which is a shape suggesting the bows of a rowing boat. The two vertical strokes may be the oars, tossed (raised to the vertical) by two rowers; compare folios 9 verso and 20 verso (D18006, D18027). For more on studies in this sketchbook relating to the regatta events at Cowes from late July 1827 onwards, see the sketchbook Introduction.
