At the top is a distant view of Southampton, with its two church spires. The profile with low hills and buildings below is presumably nearby, on Southampton Water or the Rivers Test or Itchen. At the centre right is an inverted continuation of an isolated outline of Southampton’s spires from folio 64 recto opposite (D18113), this one apparently being Holyrood’s, and at the bottom, again inverted, is a somewhat featureless river view which also continues on the other page. This is one of a sequence of views in the Southampton area; see under folio 58 verso (D18102).
