With the page turned vertically, at the top is a slight view of sails and masts against a dark coastline. Following various notes on colour and light, the last of Turner’s words seems to be ‘Fish’, and these may be fishing boats off the Isle of Wight or along the South Coast nearby.

Technical notes:
The drawings are disrupted by heavy mottling and staining from the leather overlaps over which this pastedown is glued.
