The study at the bottom shows the entrance to an unidentified harbour, likely on a Channel coast, with sailing boats off a lighthouse; this may be at Le Tréport, of which there is an identified view on the recto (D35583). The view continues on folio 56 recto opposite (D35585). Above, the other way up, are slight figure studies probably made in the area, apparently with the note ‘Fish’, suggesting fishermen or a market.

Technical notes:
There is some brown staining at the gutter, possibly indicating water damage in the 1928 Tate flood.
