Inverted relative to the sketchbook’s foliation, this drawing shows a village below a hill with a cluster of small boats apparently beached at the bottom left, with low cliffs in the foreground. The unidentified setting is presumably a Channel coast. See the sketchbook’s Introduction for the many slight coastal views scattered through it.
