With the sketchbook turned horizontally, Turner filled much of this page with views of Nantes. Included are sketches of the castle and cathedral. The study of the cathedral towards the top left-hand corner on the page has been connected with an engraved vignette designed by Turner; see Tate impression T04678. The pages of this volume feature many depictions of Nantes, a list of which is included in the sketchbook introduction.
