With the sketchbook turned horizontally, Turner filled this page with a study of the Brittany settlement of Quimper. Included in the scene are the Bishop's Palace beside the River Odet and the towers of the Cathedral of Saint-Corentin rising beyond. The drawing continues onto folio 73 verso opposite (D23129; Turner Bequest CCXLVII 72a). Drawings of Quimper feature on several pages of this volume, a list of which is included in the sketchbook introduction.
