Inverted in relation to the sketchbook as foliated, the sketch at the top of this page depicts a landscape of trees, stairs and figures. The rest of the drawings in the volume were made around the Loire Valley between Nantes and Saumur so this scene probably derives from those environs.
Technical notes:
There is a light brown stain on the top edge of the page.
