Inverted in relation to the sketchbook as foliated, the dated note by Turner at the top of this page concerns a sale of a copy of the engraved Liber Studiorum set. 1 It reads ‘1826 | 23 Augt. Colnaghi Junr set of Libers’. A faint snaking line across the centre of the page may represent the outline of a subject or simply be a slip of the pencil.
