With the sketchbook turned horizontally, Turner filled this page with a depiction of Coutances in Normandy. The crumbling medieval aqueduct crosses the centre of the page while the cathedral can be seen on the left. Multiple pages in this volume feature sketches of this settlement and its monuments, a list of which is included in the sketchbook introduction.
