With the sketchbook turned horizontally, Turner filled this page with studies of a harbour and hilly terrain. The artists made drawings of several harbours of the Cotentin Peninsula in this volume, including Cherbourg and Granville, a list of which is provided in the sketchbook introduction for comparison.
