With the sketchbook turned horizontally, Turner filled this page with studies of coastal scenery with buildings. A note towards the bottom left-hand corner of the page suggests that the drawings were taken in the landscape around the town of Granville on the west coast of the Cotentin Peninsular in Normandy. This site features on multiple pages in this volume, a list of which is provided in the sketchbook introduction for comparison.
