Turner filled much of this page with studies of street scenes with figures. Tate curator Ian Warrell suggested the town of Honfleur as the location for these sketches.1 The artist filled several pages of the present volume with studies of this Normandy harbour town, a list of which is included in the sketchbook introduction.
