The date and occasion of these pencil studies of the riverbank at Saint-Cloud are not known. However, Turner specialist Ian Warrell has speculated that it may record an otherwise undocumented expedition from nearby Paris during the 1826 tour.1 See the Introduction to this section for a list of comparable studies of this site.
