The date and occasion of this pencil study of the riverside at Saint-Cloud with chalk highlights are not known. However, Turner specialist Ian Warrell has speculated that it may record an otherwise undocumented expedition from nearby Paris during the 1826 tour.1 See the Introduction to this section for a list of comparable studies of this site.
