This sketch of the church of St Mary de Haura belongs to a group of views of the West Sussex town of Shoreham which Turner worked onto white ‘Ivy Mill’ watermarked paper as he embarked on his 1826 tour of Northern France.1 A list of these is provided in the Introduction to this section.
