This sketch shows Berlin’s Gendarmenmarkt, taken from a point facing the Neue Kirche. The dome of the Neue Kirche is continued on the folio opposite (Tate D31060; Turner Bequest CCCVII 21). The French Church and Schauspielhaus theatre (now known as the Konzerthaus) can also be seen.
