Here Turner pictures Hamburg in Germany. From a vantage point looking across the Aussenalster Lake, the view encompasses the churches of St James, Gertrude, Katharine, Peter, and Nicholas (left to right). Turner has inscribed the notes ‘Lake Alsder’ (i.e. Lake Aussenalster) and ‘Water’.
