Here Turner depicts the Geldersekade, a street on the banks of the New Maas in the Old Harbour of Rotterdam. Vessels with their sails raised are moored for loading and offloading casks. The Beursbrug Bridge can be seen at left, leading towards the Beurs or Stock Exchange building.
