The page contains a rough sketch, drawn horizontally, of a castle building. Finberg identified this sketch as ‘Tancarville Castle’,1 and this location has been confirmed.2 In this sketch, Turner concentrates on the machicolated top of the structure known as the Coquesart tower, and on the outlines of other castle buildings on the left, such as the ruined feature immediately to the left of the tower. (For further information on the castle see under folio 46 recto; D23788.)
