With the page turned horizontally, the view from the Canale delle Fondamenta Nuove is to the south-east, with the Ponte Donà at the entrance to the Rio dei Gesuiti below the outline of the campanile of the church of the same dedication in the foreground. The slender spire at the centre is that of San Francesco della Vigna. Beyond is the easternmost part of the city, apparently laterally squeezed into the main view and reprised a little more expansively at the top left, including the dome and campanile of San Pietro di Castello. There may be another view in this direction on folio 53 verso (D31895).
Folio 52 recto opposite (D31892) shows the view along the quays in the opposite direction, with the Gesuiti’s campanile shown in more detail.
