Technical notes:
Two bands of staining run horizontally all the way across the page. The lower band includes darker rectangular marks and covers slight unevenness in the surface of the paper, the latter possibly the result of a manufacturing fault. No other page in the sketchbook shows similar damage or defects despite these running across the full page.
