With the page turned horizontally, the gate, which Turner describes as still ruinous after its battering during the battle in 1815, is seen here from the north–west, from the farm road leading from the Nivelles road. Progressively more distant and complete views of the château from the same angle are on the verso (D12748) and folio 26 recto (D12750).
