For Andernach in this sketchbook see notes to folio 49 (D12881; Turner Bequest CLX 92). Turned horizontally, the lower part of this page is occupied by a broad view down the Rhine from near the landing–stage and the medieval crane towards Hammerstein and Leutesdorf. Smaller sketches fill the upper space: a downstream view from the town towards Namedy, and within a box outlined at upper right, a closer view of the crane, with Hammerstein in the right distance. Inset at top right is another view of Leutesdorf.
