The final Camden Town Group exhibition contained forty-five works by thirteen members of the group. Reviews were generally positive, and distinguished between the different contributions made by senior figures such as Walter Sickert and the work of younger artists such as Malcolm Drummond. One critic noted the group’s shared ‘belief in the pictorial possibilities of London and a certain toughness of quality which seems to proceed from a keen recognition of their duty towards paint’.
One of the highlights of the exhibition was Charles Ginner’s Piccadilly Circus 1912, now in Tate’s collection. Look at the exhibition catalogue to see what else was shown and read the critics’ responses.
