Technique and condition
The image is painted in watercolour over a pencil underdrawing on cream wove paper. The work is in good condition. Slight damage to the edges of the work are due to the removal of a previous window mount. Discolouration and staining visible on the verso has been caused by adhesive and there is a small amount of foxing on the recto of the support.
On acquisition the paper tape hinges remaining on the verso were removed. Residual adhesive on the verso was removed, the foxing was reduced and the work pressed prior to being inlaid and mounted onto white museum board.
