Technique and condition
The image is painted in watercolour with detail in gouache applied over a pencil underdrawing on cream wove paper. The work is in sound condition although it has suffered a small amount of abrasion and discolouration from its mount and from being backed on to a paper support with animal glue.
On acquisition the paper and adhesive remnants on the recto and the tape hinges remaining on the verso were removed. Residual adhesive on the verso was removed and the work pressed prior to being inlaid and mounted onto white museum board.
