Turner Bequest XXVI 28
Pencil on white wove paper, 264 x 203 mm
Inscribed by Turner ‘BP’ within the drawing on far wall, left of centre

This sheet has been misbound. It should be placed between the present folios 55 recto and 56 recto (D00610, D00612; Turner Bequest XXVI 56, 58), where Finberg recorded XXVI 57 as ‘Missing’1 (see the concordance in the introduction to the sketchbook), D00610 being another drawing of Goodrich Castle. The grand thirteenth-century arches of the Solar are recorded by Turner as in a much better state of preservation than they are today.
